About Diablo 3 boss farming

Did you notice that there are fans (huge number) that don’t actually know the D2 game ? I mean they know the major places/bosses and all the quests, but they don’t actually know the whole game …

There are players that don’t know 90% of Diablo2
because they warp through the game do the quests and kill the bosses. Once they reach a boss or a good farming area they run through that hundred of times. After you finish the game in Normal more the boss farming starts. From running Meph and Andy for example and the Ball minions for exp the game is put on hold.
People farm like crazy for Magic Items and Experience. Everyone needs better gear and more power.

In Diablo 3 things should change a bit, i suggest:

  • Create more “good farming areas”
  • Spread them through the game so the player has to actually play it.
  • Make the Bosses harder to reach
  • Create mini-bosses in each cavern so the player has a reason to run it
  • Make D3 harder to warp through in 1-2-3 days

Don’t get me wrong i like to farm bosses like any other diablo fan but i would like to see more of the game, not just the same area a thousand times.
Diablo 3 is beautiful and Blizzard must make the players see it all, not just the important parts and areas

NO Escort Missions in Diablo3

I have a beef with Escort missions in all games.

What is an Escort Mission ?
Well you have to babysit a NPC (or a group) … slow and painful missions that drive you insane. I have encountered a few interesting escort missions and thousands of boring “drive you up the wall” type missions

The Diablo games (I and II) never had this problem and I don’t want to see it in III
I saw a guy suggesting this to Blizzard and thought to myself … ” how can you call yourself a true Diablo fan when you come up with this idiotic idea ? “
I am sure that Blizzard will not introduce these kind of missions in D3.

Diablo3 must be a fast paced and insane game, there is no room for slow missions here

What monsters we should see in Diablo3 ?

Do you remember the Stygian Dolls from D2 ? Yes, the instant kills you took from them. Oh how we loved them in hardcore, i lost 3 hardcore characters to those dolls 🙂 There are fans that don’t want them in D3… Why?
I personally want to see them all this is was the best part of the Diablo games, that fear that a crappy monster can kill you in one shot (maybe 2). Some fans are being just plain boring by asking that the major monsters (the most dangerous in D2) should not be brought back… but what do you want ? an easy to beat game ? I don’t !

Bring back the dolls, the bloodlords and succubus, the hell spawners and Oblivion Knights (D1), the Souls that killed you in a wall of lightning, Bring them all
Diablo3 must be difficult and it must be huge to please all fans. We have to play it and play it hard in order to win, the Diablo games must be a challenge and Blizzard knows this.
So what if you get killed in 2-3 shots by an exploding doll or by a gang of Souls. You get to play the game again 🙂
Each D3 monster should be a challenge.

I don’t like it when people complain for no reason, all monsters in D2 were cool and hard and in D3 they should be the same.

Diablo 3 Death Time Penalty

What do you think about the time penalty when you die in the game?

Jay Wilson said in an old interview:

“Jay Wilson: We have not actually decided on the final death mechanic. I can guarantee that you will not lose experience. We are not urging to big penaltys for death. But we want enough of a penalty to be there, so that death has meaning! Like to lose a little bit time, some kind of decrement… We do not currently have a durability, but some kind of … a gold cost is actually not so bad. And having the player to waste some time, that is certainly an element. Generally we kind of rely on the effect that players do not want to die. You know, you just do not want to. So there is no real reason to add a further “ding” to them for something happening that was already unfavorable to them. But we have not got our final mechanics on that, yet.”

I agree with Wilson, death must mean something in Diablo3, not sure if Gold penalty will actually do the trick because if we look at D2 gold did not mean anything. Of course if they manage to revive the economy in D3 maybe gold loss will make the player fear death.

About the Time Penalty, i agree, i don’t mind to have my character out for a small amount of time, this will make me more careful in the future. Death must be avoided at any cost in the game. This way people will think before attacking. I see that more and more fans do not agree with the D3 time penalty, they want to jump back in and take revenge. I am sure that Blizzard will make a “smart death system” and A penalty is required.
People, do not fear the change, it is necesary, this is why it is called Diablo3 and not another sequel of DII

Diablo 3 Charms – Good or Bad

Do you remember the D2 charms ? Sure you do, and do you remember your inventory getting full because of them? Indeed, this is a hot topic today regarding Diablo 3.

Some fans don’t want the old charm system back because of the inventory space. Some say that charms should be “invisible” and that they should just be added on the character with no impact on the inventory.

Well i do not agree. If this would be the case it would mean that a character could have 1001 charms. Every single crappy charm that you could find would get equipped and in the end you would be a GOD. That is just what Blizzard is trying to avoid. I liked the old D2 system where you had to choose between a large charm and some health or restoration potions, to choose between a few charms and more free space for gear to pick up. This is the whole idea of Diablo, to plan your strategy and never having enough of anything.

We all want more space in the inventory, more monsters, more blood, more magic and more darkness. It is just not possible and it would ruin the whole gaming experience. I loved the Diablo2 charm system and i want something similar in Diablo3.
